Kung Fu Hustle (25th Anniversary Screening)

So many gangsters… so little time.

Gong Hei Faat Choy!

We are celebrating the start of Lunar New Year on Tuesday, February 17 (Year of the Horse!) with a 25th Anniversary screening of Hong Kong martial arts superstar Stephen Chow‘s action-packed comedy blockbuster KUNG FU HUSTLE.

Triple threat Chow (who co-wrote, directed, and stars in the film) crafted a cinematic gem that blends seamless special effects in a high-flying martial arts epic set in early ’40s China. The story follows hapless Sing (Chow) and his dim-witted pal who try to scam the residents of Shanghai’s Pig Sty Alley into thinking they’re members of the dreaded “Axe Gang.” When the real gangsters return to restore their fearsome reputation, they must contend with the three legendary retired kung-fu masters who quietly live in the decrepit neighborhood – and don’t take kindly to strangers. Also starring Feng Xiaogang, Chan Kwok-kwan, Yu Xing, Dong Zhihua and Chiu Chi-ling.
