School of Rock (FREE! Community Screening)

He just landed the gig of his life: 5th grade.

Join us at the Park Theatre on Saturday, September 19 for a very special community screening of a modern day classic – in one of Vancouver’s treasured historic cinemas! We’re getting ready for a fun (and free!) family-friendly viewing of Richard Linklater‘s SCHOOL OF ROCK, presented in partnership with the Cambie Village Business Association (CVBA).

SCHOOL OF ROCK sees a a pitch-perfect Jack Black take centre stage as an overly enthusiastic guitarist named Dewey Finn, who after getting thrown out of his bar band finds himself in desperate need of work. Posing as a substitute music teacher at an elite private elementary school, he exposes his students to the hard rock gods he idolizes and emulates — much to the consternation of the uptight principal (Joan Cusack). As he gets his privileged and precocious charges in touch with their inner rock ‘n’ roll animals, he imagines redemption at a local Battle of the Bands. With Sarah Silverman, Mike White, and Miranda Cosgrove.

SCHOOL OF ROCK is more satisfying than a crunching power chord. A raucous crowd-pleaser with a pumping soundtrack, some awe inspiringly talented kids, and perfect comic performances. Charming.” (Empire Magazine)

“Hail! Hail! Jack Black: He’s the clown king of rock & roll.” (Rolling Stone)
