The Invite
Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbours for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down? With Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penelope Cruz, and Edward Norton.
“If there is more pleasure to be had than watching great actors behaving badly, I would genuinely wish to know about it.” (The Spectator)
“‘The Invite’ beautifully conveys that, no matter how open we might be — or, crucially, believe we might be — there will be barriers that arise, ones that must be dealt with instead of hidden behind.” (Salon.com)
“Set mostly inside an apartment and focusing on just four characters, the movie is a chamber piece, and while it it’s often funny, the humor sometimes reaches into a register of claustrophobic bickering that some may find unappealing.” (Slate)
“The film is a modern ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’, with kink. A movie for grown-ups, smart and sophisticated, of a type not made much anymore. So refreshing, and so deliciously funny. “ (The Australian)
